Gaelscoil Shliabh Rua opened it’s doors for the first time on the 28th August 2013. On the first day, there was one teacher, the first school principal, Conchúr Ó Raghallaigh and 8 children, all in Junior Infants. For the first school year, the school was located in pre-fab buildings in De La Salle Palmerston Rugby Club. The Department of Education & Skills received planning permission in 2014 to build a new school on the Ballyogan Road and we moved into that building in time for the 2015/16 school year. Through co-operation between staff and parents, our school is going from strength to strength.
Why Sliabh Rua?
Sliabh Rua is the historical Irish name for Three Rock Mountain that stands beside us in Kilternan and Stepaside. This name was chosen to celebrate the history and natural surroundings in the area.
